Our Team
Every practitioner chosen with purpose.
At Atma, the team is the difference. Every provider was chosen not just for their credentials, but for their belief that patients deserve more — more time, more answers, more genuine care.
Founder & Director
Functional & Integrative Medicine
Dr. Sandal founded Atma Clinic to practice medicine the way it was always meant to be — comprehensive, unhurried, and genuinely personal. After graduating from Cornell University and the University of Kansas School of Medicine, he completed his residency in Family Medicine at the University of Arizona, where he trained under leaders in Integrative and Functional Medicine at the Andrew Weil Center.
His passion is helping patients find their health — whether that means solving a complex chronic illness that stumped every specialist before him, helping an elite athlete reach peak performance, or helping someone discover a deeper connection between their spirit and their body. He incorporates Ayurveda, herbalism, energy healing, and yoga alongside the best in current science and research when crafting individualized treatment plans.
Dr. Sandal grew up in Lawrence and Baldwin City. He is deeply rooted in this community and founded Atma here because he wanted to give his neighbors the kind of care he would want for his own family.
Root-cause investigation and advanced diagnostics for adults, children, and complex chronic conditions.
Dr. Shawn Jackson, MD
Advanced Functional & Integrative Medicine
Dr. Jackson trained in Internal Medicine and Anesthesiology at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. His clinical focus is advanced functional and integrative care for adults and children — building individualized treatment plans that respect each patient's goals and personal autonomy. His philosophy: always listen, never accept a solution that doesn't work, and help patients develop the self-awareness their minds and bodies need to heal.
Areas of Focus
Conner Keyeski, APRN, FNP-C
Integrative & Functional Medicine
Conner has practiced under Dr. Sandal's mentorship since 2020, spending the vast majority of that time focused on functional medicine — not just primary care. A graduate of MidAmerica Nazarene University (BSN) and Graceland University (MSN), board-certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, his depth of functional medicine experience is exceptional. He combines the best of conventional and integrative approaches to address root causes, not symptoms.
Areas of Focus
Dr. Lauren Poull, MD, FAAP
Functional & Integrative Pediatrics
Board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Dr. Poull trained at the University of Washington and Seattle Children's Hospital. She worked closely with leaders in Integrative and Functional Medicine throughout her training and brings that same root-cause depth to pediatric and adult care. Her research on resilience and well-being earned Best Trainee Presentation at the 2017 AAP National Conference.
Areas of Focus
Comprehensive family medicine for every age — thoughtful, accessible, and genuinely invested in your long-term wellbeing.

Lisa Cason, APRN, FNP-C
Holistic Primary Care
Lisa brings the same whole-person philosophy to primary care that defines every aspect of Atma's practice. In addition to her primary care role, Lisa is pioneering Atma's regenerative aesthetics line — bringing clinical precision and a root-cause philosophy to aesthetic medicine. This integrated approach means her aesthetic patients benefit from a provider who understands their whole health picture, not just their skin.
Areas of Focus
The disciplines that complete the whole-person model — not referrals, but integral members of your care team.
Ashley Combs, BSND
Holistic Nutritionist · Functional Nutrition Therapy
Ashley is Atma's holistic nutritionist, helping patients use nutrition as a foundation for lasting health. After several years as an educator, she returned to school to study Nutrition and Dietetics at Kansas State University, followed by further training in gut health and trauma-informed care. She favors a sustainable, nutrient-forward approach over restriction, and her Treatment Plan Implementation visits help patients translate complex care plans into everyday, livable habits.
Specialty Visits
David Lovely, LMAC, LPC, ACHt
Integrative Therapist · Mental Health
David integrates mental health care directly into your treatment plan — because at Atma, the mind and body are never treated as separate systems. Drawing on licensed counseling, clinical hypnotherapy, and integrative therapeutic modalities, his work addresses the psychological and emotional dimensions of health that so often underlie physical symptoms. David's presence on the team is what makes Atma's whole-person model genuinely whole.
Modalities
Specialized, clinically-integrated modalities available across both Atma locations.
Bob Lavendusky
Neurofeedback Provider · Stillpoint Neurofeedback
Bob brings Stillpoint Neurofeedback, the practice he founded in 2012, to Atma patients in Lawrence and Overland Park. He's a NeurOptimal® Certified Master Trainer with a background in meditation, yoga, Aikido, and Qigong, and has worked with clients across the spectrum since first training in 2010. The process is effortless by design — no conscious effort from the patient required for the brain to benefit.
